The club's Dorfold Moorings

The Cheshire based canal boat cruising club is located on the Shropshire Union Canal, 1 mile from Nantwich town centre. See location map. The club was founded in 1953 and has grown to its current size with 200 plus members and moorings for some 70 boats - steel, fibreglass and wood. The Join Us page gives current membership fees and an on-line application form. If you need further information please e-mail us via the Contact Form.

Dorfold moorings

The club's Dorfold Moorings

The Dorfold provides safe moorings for fibreglass boats in a basin off the main line. It accommodates approximately 40 boats including a few steel boats opposite the 'finger' moorings. See photos above. Water points and 6 amp electrics are provided on the moorings as part of club membership.

Mainline moorings

The club's Mainline Moorings

Main line moorings are located opposite the tow path on the Shropshire Union Canal. They are reserved for steel boats up to 40 feet in length and accommodate up to 30 boats. Water points and 6 amp electrics are provided on the moorings as part of club membership.

Club facilities

There are two club houses, a club kitchen, two workshops and a sanitary block, with water taps and electricity points at several places along the moorings for the use of members. For those owners of fibreglass and wooden boats who wish to take their boats out of the water during the winter months, there is a craning out service in October and a craning in service just before Easter (alternate years).

Social events

The club has an active social calendar with twelve to thirteen events throughout the year, including cruises, barbecues, a New Year lunch and other social events. There are two regular working weekends (spring and autumn) where members join in to carry out routine maintenance of the moorings and buildings. The club's AGM is in early December and is an opportunity for members to review the year and to suggest ways to develop the club.
